Welcome to the website of Dorset AIDS Memorial Schools Educational Trust (DAMSET) The trust was formed to administer an innovative community arts project aimed at raising HIV/AIDS awareness in younger people in particular and the community at large.
Initially it covers the boroughs of Bournemouth and Poole but looks to expand into the county of Dorset.
For information on how to help us with funding with the project please see the funding information page.

The project was inaugurated at a presentation made by the trustees at Bournemouth library, in the presence of the mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Ted Taylor, on World AIDS Day 2005. The mission is to increase the awareness of HIV/AIDS throughout the community, especially amongst younger people, by means of a community arts project that complements studies in the current schools’ curriculum. We also aim to help overcome the prejudice and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS by explaining:
- how the virus is contracted
- how infection can be prevented
- the social consequences of the infection
- the specific needs of those living with it.
